My Favorite Flat Trails in Bellingham

Okay, I can be suckered into a hike because I love the views. I’ve done Lake Ann, I’ve down Mt. Pilchuck but don’t think I wasn’t winded, questioning, “WHY!?” with every step on any incline great or small. Now, flat? I’ll go for miles and miles. So, it inspired me to come up with a list of flat trails in Bellingham for my fellow wanderers who don’t do the heavy-breathing, rockery-ridden despair.

• Lake Whatcom Park — Hertz Trail

• Hovander Park

• Birch Bay Trail

• Padilla Bay Shore Trail Walk in Edison

• Cascade Trail in Sedro Woolley

• Squalicum Harbor

• Battersby Park in the Lettered Streets

• Bay to Baker Trail

Or just adventure through the neighborhoods!

I’m impressed by walking through most neighborhoods around Downtown Bellingham. They can be somewhat flat but be cautious as that’s not always true. Use this handy tool to check elevations as you adventure at “How Far Did I Run” website and toggle on elevation button. Happy exploring!
