Celebrating El Sueñito Brewing Company
What’s this?! A brewing company is one of my favorites? Um, heck yes, when they serve the best tamales, rice, tacos, queso, aqua frescas, and have one of the most fun atmospheres for adults, kids, and furry friends.
Chef and I came across this spot on accident when we took a wrong turn and it has easily become a go-to when we aren’t sure what we want to eat. The food never disappoints. It’s filling. It’s flavorful. We literally have to share a plate the portions are so good.
Hidden along Humboldt, specifically: 1926 Humboldt St, Bellingham, WA 98225 is El Sueñito Brewing Company. This spunky shaped and colorful building with a beautiful exterior patio and outdoor space. From the logo displayed on the outside of the building to the food itself, it becomes obvious that El Sueñito is a perfect blend of “flavors of Mexico with the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.”
According to their website, “Our Bellingham taproom is the birthplace of our vision, offering a cozy, welcoming space where beer enthusiasts and food lovers can experience the magic that started it all,” and even though we don’t drink, I couldn’t agree more that the entire experience is magical.
We order the “same” thing every time we visit. “Same” gets to be in quotes because we always order a One Tamale Plate but we choose a different Tamale each time. Chef regularly opts for the Spicy Roja but sometimes we go for the Mild Verde. We love that it comes vegan Mexican rice, refried beans, plus crema and pickled veggies.
The vegan and vegetarian tamale options get high-praise from my Vegan folks in my life. Plus the seasonal surprises keep us coming back — choosing those, you can’t go wrong.
We also order Queso Fundido & Chips every time. We usually skip the chorizo but splurged for the blog post just to show off how tasty it looks. C’mon! Yummy!
What I love about this spot is how quick it is to get delicious food. There are times where every table is full but turnover is quick and the food rarely takes long and comes out fresh and flavorful every time.
One time, we had a group of friends over, there was probably eight of us? We debated where to go and decided El Sueñito. We all rolled in, were able to get a table with ease, everyone ordered their drinks, food, and snacks and we were so full and happy afterwards we just sat and our friends enjoyed another round of drinks.
El Sueñito reminds me of that “open concept” kitchen we all dream about in houses. You walk in and everyone is there to great you, it’s friendly, inviting, you can see the massive brewing area, the patio in the summer is always buzzing with folks and the inside is nicely cool. Another bonus, is that they often have events including a weekly running club, mixers, and trivia. I love the community El Sueñito has built and elevates. It really is more than a taproom and tamales.
El Sueñito is more than a taproom and tamales.
It’s a place to go with friends, for lunch, for announcements, for get-togethers and to-go’s. There is never a wrong time to go enjoy “a little dream”. I am so thankful to have this spot in Bellingham!
