Action League of Bellingham
It's always so exciting when a longtime staple nonprofit or business makes moves to evolve and continue their mission and programs honing in on our local community like a magnifying glass. Which is exactly what Action League of Bellingham is doing. I had the wonderful opportunity to chat back and forth with their current President who reached out to inform me of their name change after my thrift shop blog appeared with their former name, asking if I could update it. Which of course I can!
She informed me about the name transition from Assistance League of Bellingham to Action League Bellingham and gave me some insight into what that meant and why. Which is really stellar! While they are bidding farewell to the national network they've been a local chapter of for 44 years. This pivot into becoming their own nonprofit allows them the ability to direct more funding to local kids and families. In 2025 alone, the proceeds from the thrift shop helped provide clothing to over 2,000 students and funded scholarships, books, and youth programs across the county.
They are also hosting a Action League of Bellingham Launch Celebration unveiling the new signage and celebrating the nonprofit’s history in Bellingham which began in 1977.
If you've never visited the Thrift and Gift Shop on 2817 Meridian Street in Bellingham, WA, now is as good a time as ever! The fully volunteer run shop operates at a stunning level with all kinds of quality furniture, clothing, jewelry, books, home decor, trinkets and more at great prices. It’s just a hoot to look through everything, you never know what you’ll find!
