Trevor’s Magic Rocks’ Store Front in Fairhaven
I had been slowly wandering by one of my favorite mysterious doors in Fairhaven watching a magical transformation take place. What once was Fairhaven Gold at 1302 12th St. Bellingham, WA has unearthed another glorious spot for the community who love to look at the shiny things and have an appreciation for creators and what the Earth can unearth!
My favorite door surrounded by bricks is now a stunning green as is the bump out window, welcoming people to pause and see what’s happening inside and of course, Chef and I popped in during the grand opening of: Trevor’s Magic Rocks!
When you walk in the door it feels like entering a fairy tale. Artwork, rocks, a mysterious machine, shiny necklaces, it’s like entering a mythical realm where you let your eyes settle, think you’ve seen everything in that corner and then something new will catch your eye and you’ll end up standing admiring the artistry for several more minutes.

We had a great time looking at the “Thunder Eggs” were consumed by the obsidian, a raccoon skull, and my personal favorite beautiful wands. We didn’t get to chat with Trevor as the grand opening was in full swing and the curiosity of the people in the shop was delightful to see! My favorite thing I heard was kids with their parents walking by and the kids absolute interest in the shop convinced the parents to come in and look around. I know if I was a Bellingham kid I would certainly put this on my, “Oh, we are going to Fairhaven? Can we stop at Trevor’s Magic Rocks?”
While there were highlights for kids (Aka: The THUNDER ROCKS), much of the store felt mature and had such an enrapturing collection of jewelry. Checking out Trevor’s Magic Rock’s Instagram, I discovered more about what a Lapidary Artist is! Lapidary artists shape, cut, grind, and polish raw stones, minerals, and crystals into fine art, cabochons, carved sculptures, and faceted gemstones. I also discovered the shop partners with Kerrie Starke of Starlight Goddess Studio who is their, “in-house Silversmith and Tarot reading crystal energy healer".”
I also learned from exploring Trevor’s Magic Rocks’ Website there is an entire collection of classes and services they provide surrounding the craft of Lapidary. Some current offerings include:

I’m really fascinated by the “cabochon,” I don’t know how to pronounce that word (yet) or really the proper way to use it in a sentence, but the shiny smoothness of the stones made me feel like a little kid, where you just want to look at them and see what they look like under different colored lights, the sunshine, underwater, all those funny things. Not sure what a cabochon is? It’s one of those gemstones that has been shaped and polished into a smooth, rounded dome with a flat bottom, rather than cut into flat facets. I literally, cannot tell you the glorious amount of words I have gotten to look up after exploring the shops website.
Which reminds me of something extraordinary cool I saw on their website: Trevor’s Magic Rocks Shop will purchase your collection of crystals, rocks, gems, rough, slabs, and/or equipment. The website says: “Whether you've inherited a family member's hoard, or have purchased a storage locker full of rocks and gemstones, we can help you liquidate! (Please have an asking price in mind.)” As someone who works in real estate and has seen an estate sale or two, the gemstone collections you come across are unreal and beautiful and now to know there is someone in Bellingham who had the eye, knowledge, and expertise to treat these collections properly is wonderful!
Magic Rocks!! Cue the Drum Solo!One of my favorite things about this rock and gemstone shop in Bellingham was how approachable the prices were on every item. From the different collection of rocks to the one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry. It all felt raw, carefully curated, and thoughtfully presented. I can’t wait to see what the small business develops into and I hope all rock, stone, and gem enthusiast discover dig into all the opportunities they are offering!
