The Birch Door Cafe
The Tradition at The Birch Door Cafe
This might be the year of all-day breakfast places for me. After many, many years, stories, and recommendations we finally gathered a group and went to the highly-rated Birch Door Cafe. Which, did not disppoint from it’s door to the dishes!
The Atmosphere at The Birch Door Cafe
Parking was easy for us and we went at prime brunch time. Our group gathered outside and walked in together, I appreciated the size of the front of the house and the host station was quick to get our name and group number.
There were many parties of people waiting with us with a variety of ages, which told me we were in for quality, variety, and some good breakfast!
The interior was this charming wood cabin-like style, warm cozy, it almost had an enchanted forest feel to me. Our party of nine were seated swiftly and we began debating what to eat and share.
It was on the louder side but every seat was filled, so what do you expect? I feel like I could hear to the middle of the table, but my party members on the far end of the table’s conversations were a bit lost to me. But it’s a party of nine at a large table — Maybe that could be to your advenatge if you didn’t want to hear the same stories.

The Food at Birch Door Cafe
We ordered so much food and had a great time playing pass with all the plates. Most of our table ordered the seasonal pancake option, which I can’t recall. We also had to try the house specalities of Apple Pancake which was just as described: “this is the pancake you’ll talk about forever.” I think we ate this one so fast I didn’t get a picture.
We ordered the Strawberry-Granola Pancakes, Homemade Biscuit and Gravy, I got my favorite dine-out breakfast option of Eggs Benedict, Classic style which included two poached eggs, bacon, toasted English Muffin with hollandaise sauce, with a side of breakfast style potatoes. They had four other tempting Eggs Benedict options which offered things like a mushroom bechamel, one with tomato and avacados, another smoked salmon, or one with country gravy. The Birch Door Cafe Breakfast Menu has everything you could want.
Chef ordered the Fresh Fruit Blintzes, which according to the menu is: “My Grandmother’s Recipe makes this a true Eastern European Treat. A creamy and sweet ricotta filling wrapped inside three French crepes and topped with your choice of strawberries or blueberries.” It looked absolutel stunning. My pictures didn’t do the presentation justice and the flavors were perfectly balanced, so don’t let the idea of rioctta and crepe scare you away!

Birch Door Cafe is everything you want for breakfast!I don’t know why we had dragged our feet to going to Birch Door Cafe. Maybe it was the over-hype we were worried about, maybe it was prices which, at the time of writing this range from $15 - $25, but after going, the service was lovely, the atmosphere was cozy, the amount of food to the price was excellent and the dishes were everything we could have hoped for. It does feel like a spot we will go to for more “occassion”-worthy happenings, but it is such a stunning place and after looking at the pictures of the dishes again… I think I need to go get breakfast.
