Cafe Blue: A Cozy Bellingham Café Worth Knowing
When I walk to work I often pass Cafe Blue, this perfectly sweet corner cafe is located at the beginning of McKenzie Alley and tucked into a corner of Fairhaven. It’s beautiful white flowers grace the windows, the seating outside is always rotating with people and the scrumptious smell that flows from it’s front door is always tempting!
This past season, I think it was the cafe I spent the longest amount of time at with a variety of people, ordering all kinds of different drinks. Chef was obsessed with their Banana Bread Latte which was a seasonal delight. We tried their iced mochas, their Rosamarias (brown butter oatmeal cookies with rosemary creme), several different Toasts and really just enjoyed the entire experience.
When you walk into Cafe Blue, its a tight space and during peak coffee hours tables inside are filled, so I haven’t experienced sitting inside yet, which has been fine because the outside space is just as comfortable and the staff are great about getting your food to you where ever you end up. Somehow, when we went to get photos of the cafe it was shockingly empty and peaceful. But even when it is bustling there is a sense of belonging amongst all the strangers. The space cultivates this welcoming joy.
Cafe Blue Menu in Fall 2026
When you walk in you basically find the line, but worry not it moves quick! Sometimes if you go in a pair it’s wise to split up and snag your coveted seat. Like I said earlier, you can’t go wrong with any choice on their menu. One of the things I love most about Cafe Blue is how the staff is all familiar faces to me. It seems like it is a tight-knit group who really care about the quality of drinks they are making and you’ll often find the owner working alongside everyone.
