Best Pumpkin Patches Around Whatcom
If you’re like me, you don’t get your pumpkin until the week before. But that doesn’t stop Chef and I from exploring the patches!! What I love is so many of these places aren’t just patches, some have corn mazes, tractor rides, farm animals, each one is uniquely it’s own thing! Here is a list of pumpkin patches to check out!
Pumpkin Patches around Whatcom and Skagit
This is the one I often gravitate too each year. I love their apple cider and how dogs can play in the grassy lawn. I have walked the orchard with my family and friends each year and it is always a stunning expereince. I look forward to the hot donuts every year too. I’ve also been impressed it is never too muddy. I love the store and the cafe and have always had a grand time people watching!
I only recently came across Hal’s Pumpkin patch off Imhoff road in Ferndale. They have a pumpkin cannon which reminds me of the farm I would go to as a little kid.
This one allows dogs on leashes!!! I just love seeing all my friend’s photos of their pups and pumpkins! Here there is also no entry fee, and you pay for your pumpkins by the pound. We had a rule growing up that if you could carry it, you could keep it. This farm has a beautiful rustic feel to it that just feels like the essense of autumn!
4. Dan Cramer’s Western Town & Pumpkin Patch
Another patch I will have to explore! Looking at their Facebook page it appears they have so many farm animals which is always a draw for me. This one, as the name implies looks like a Western Town and that seems like an amazing experience for a family to enjoy!
5. Schuh Farms
This farm in Mt. Vernon seems to go all out for fall! They have a tractor train, barrel, hayride, and corn maze every weekend in October. They also have fresh pies, scones and cookies!
This one feels like the showstopper of farms and pumpkin patches. They have plenty of family activities including: corn maze, bin maze (apple bins formed into a maze!), farm animals, live music, tractor rides around the farm, kid’s playground. They offer mini apple cider donuts, pumpkin donuts, and apple cider, and have food trucks on Saturdays. Like, WHOA!

But sometimes, you just don’t have the bandwidth or desire to hunt for the best pumpkin in an endless field, so here are some easy places in Bellingham to scoop up a great pumpkin:

October in Whatcom is amazing! What I love most is how everything changes in the Fall. The leaves are my favorite. But I love the events and how focus shifts and everyone surrounds themselves with apples, harvest, homegrown things. I’m always on the hunt for a good homemade cider and donuts!
