Best Places to Watch Fireworks on Bellingham Bay
Whatcom County has many firework events with two of the most consistent being in Blaine and Bellingham! Each year, the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce partners and the Port of Bellingham along with a season sponsor bring a festival and fireworks to our community on the Fourth of July.
Here are my four best places to watch the fireworks that happen on Bellingham Bay and enjoy festivities!
Fireworks at Zuanich Point Park
The center of it all! Grab your picnic blanket and enjoy the waterfront for music, games, face painting, dinner, and fun for the whole family. Festivities usually begin in the afternoon and activities and food trucks are on sight for the whole event. Direct view. Very loud. Feels like the fireworks are right on top of you. Check out all the happenings!
Watch Fireworks from Above: Commercial Street Garage and Mezzanine
Located at 1300 Commercial St, Bellingham, WA 98225, is a great spot! I honestly love visiting this spot when there isn't fireworks. While I haven't venture to it on the 4th of July, I know the view is spectacular with its panoramic view of almost all of Bellingham, the bay, and the islands! This 360 degree spot might let you see fireworks from all over. It also seems like a fun place to plan the entire evening around, park there, wander and get food and then go back to the top of the parking garage. There is an elevator to get to the top as well! A southwest view of the fireworks, more distant.
WWU Pac Plaza Packs a Punch for Fireworks!
I have spent several Independence Days' here! I love how wide and open the Pac Plaza is and even if it gets "crowded" you can still see the fireworks. The energy here is great fun and there aren't many students since it's summer session. I do love how everyone "oohs and ahhs" when you watch fireworks from this spot. West view. Some distance, but still powerful without a shaking boom.
Boulevard Park Fireworks
If Zuanich seems too much, Boulevard is a backup for sure! Though parking is considerably less, it could be a fun spot to put out a blanket with less noise than Zuanich's main festival area, I'd imagine. With a more West-facing view and more distance but will still feel close!
Hooray for Firework shows! No matter where you watch from, be safe and be aware! I have always enjoyed the Bellingham Bay Firework shows put on by their various sponsors and I look forward to hopefully, a bright night that is succinct so we don’t frighten our neighbors and wild life more than is required to celebrate Independence Day.
