Apple Cider in Bellingham
It’s Fall, that last post was about gourmet caramel apples in Fairhaven, so let’s continue on the apple train! Where does one get the best apple cider in Bellingham? I didn’t realize how spoiled I truly was until I realized how many other places don’t have locally-made apple cider at the ready in local grocery stores. I mean, it’s Washington, we are the leading apple-producing state in the United States! We are responsible for producing over half of the country's domestically grown apples — So, shouldn’t crisp, locally made apple cider just be a given? So glad that in Bellingham it is!
Bellewood Farms & Distillery
It’s Bellewood Farms, hands down for me! They are located off Guide Meridian in Lynden. But I am so thankful their seasonal cider shows up at the co-ops and Haggen in Bellingham and really the trip to their stunning location is one of the highlights of my Fall season.
They have amazing orchards that sprawl over 47 acres of land. According to their website they have 22 varieties of apples and pears including Honeycrisp and many others. Which you can get a U-PICK bag and choose them yourself.
I have happily walked through the orchard during Harvest Season (usually late August through end of October) where they have a pumpkin patch, a “bin train” tractor that kiddos and families love to ride in. Plus an amazing Distillery Tasting Room and the “Ten Mile Cafe”.
Additionally, you have, have, have to try the Apple Cider Donuts that are in the little stand off to the side of everything. ONLY on Saturdays and Sundays! I can’t even begin to tell you how incomplete my Autumn feels if — on the rare chance — I miss getting an order of them. Fresh, cinnamon, mini donuts and I don’t know what else they put in them but they are mythical.
Check out Bellewood Farm’s website for the latest.

What else says Fall more than Apple Cider?
I love everything about Fall in Washington. The leaves change, the air smells clean and crisp, and apple cider warms your soul. I love to drink the cider cold but Chef loves to boil it and occasionally pop in some mulling spices, but the apple cider around here is so good and delicious the only thing you need to do is enjoy it — Hot or cold.
