Hammerhead: The Coffee Shop
Mid-Afternoon at The Coffee Shop in Bellingham in winter.
It’s a good gray day in Bellingham. Early. Crispy. Chef and I have finished our errands but like any good grocery run, you’re hungry now — Hammerhead Coffee Roasters’ The Coffee Shop is one of the best pit-stops for moments like these.
All-Day Breakfast and Lunch. Weekend specials. Fresh Coffee & Biscuits. I love how the exterior announces exactly what you’ll find inside. Located at 405 E Holly St, Bellingham, WA 98225 and open 7 days a week from 7 AM to 3 PM. It is one of the coziest spots to get a bite to eat. When you walk inside the automatic doors the smell of fresh coffee wraps you up. We love peeking at their seasonal board but our go-tos are the “Birch, Please” a Toasted Birch Bark Latte (their favorite and ours!), and one Biscuit Sandwich with Pimento and bacon and I love the lunch sandwich, The Italian which comes with mortadella, salami Toscano, provolone, iceberg and Pepperoncini. I think my stomach just grumbled…
We love sitting in at this shop. Seating is limited when they are busy, and they do get busy, but luckily the wait for your food is never long. The staff are so friendly and I’m fairly certain the owners are there regularly. Chef and I try to keep our chit-chat with the staff efficient since it’s a tight, small staff and we don’t want to hold anybody up but they are always kind when I have questions or when I — like a goober — Will occasionally request the Biscuit with Butter & Jam… Sans Jam. Just not a jammy person, I guess!
The space can get energetic but it is rarely loud, in the summer they have a beautiful outdoor patio space as well. We like eating in because the coffee is always so beautiful in their mugs.
The Birch, Please Latte in all it’s stunning glory.
I regularly see students studying, moms meeting up, business folks clicking away and everyone enjoying the coffee and food. Not to mention they regularly have seasonal updates to their menu! For example in the winter they had a Brown Sugar Miso Latte, alongside the usual seasonal champions: Gingerbread Latte and Peppermint Mocha.
Who can say no to a smiley Hammerhead anyway?I’m also obsessed with all their merch. The crewnecks, bags, and coffee beans are just one of the best to bestow as a gift to a friend or yourself. When you’re feeling breakfast-y at two o’clock in the afternoon, The Coffee Shop is ready to welcome you in, serve you up a delicious biscuit, and soothe your craving for coffee.
